An interesting concept and an easy read – a synchronised swimming team who escape the Soviet Union – but I was never that engaged. This seems like a potentially rich topic, but I didn’t get enough time with any of the women to get much of a sense of their stories. Nina’s story of losing her language is the most interesting; I’d have liked to dig into that some more.
